Season Ends On a High for Hazel Grove United

Published: 26th June 2014

Sponsored by Spectus Window Systems, Hazel Grove United is basking in post-season glory, securing promotion to the Premier Division of the East Manchester League and reaching the Cup Final.

The Greater Manchester-based club comprises two teams; the Jets and the Hornets, with most of the boys aged 7. The Jets enjoyed a stand-out season losing just one game out of 38. Team manager, Ric Clayton put the loss down to an outbreak of chicken pox weakening the team!

Unlike the national team the Hazel Grove squad has also managed to hit the back of the net on more than one occasion scoring more than 340 goals. This season also saw a number of the club’s academy players, aged just 5 and 6, get a game.

Talking about his stand out moment from the season team manager Ric said: “It would be too hard to pick just one! It has been an absolute pleasure to manage and coach such a talented bunch. In fact to prove how good they really are, we’ve not only been praised by the other coaches but a few of our boys have already been talent spotted and play for premiership academies!”

Player of the season, along with managers’ player, players’ player and most improved player will be announced at the Club’s presentation ceremony later this summer.

Hazel Grove United is the ultimate #TeamRed, representing all that defines Spectus Window Systems’ latest campaign – achieving success through determination and team work!
