Spectus and the environment
The Government’s commitment to the The Kyoto Protocol an international treaty, which extends the 1992 United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) that commits State Parties to reduce greenhouse gases emissions means we all have to do our bit to help.
- We produce in Great Britain, in our own manufacturing facilities. We have complete control of our production and its impact on the environment. We avoid unnecessary shipping by keeping production and our markets nearby
- We have been awarded the Building Research Establishment standard BES 6001. This standard covers the methods, supply chain management, and environmental and social aspects that ensure the responsible sourcing of construction products. The certification is your guarantee that our products meet your responsible-sourcing criteria
- We operate to the environmental standard ISO 14001, with policies covering all aspects of our operation from our energy usage to waste management
- PVC-U products are judged by the Building Research Establishment to have a lifespan of 35 years. Our windows, manufactured to BS 7412, are estimated to have a life in excess of 40 years. At the end of this period, PVC-U can be recycled with no loss of performance. It is possible to recycle PVC-U more than ten times, giving a total lifespan of several hundred years. Wherever possible, we recycle, and incorporate recycled materials into our products.
